Who did any writer ever save? When did words raise anyone from the grave? Has the great mind, ever by writing, Put an end to war and fighting? Ideas like icebergs, drift then melt, And gradually no change is ever felt, Because shortly after publication, Of their high ideals, and their computations, Of why mankind just loves killing, Still so many are oh so willing, To join the disparate armies of the world, As soon as the flags have been unfurled.

The Lord above, he came to me and whispered in my ear, 'some folks down there, live their lives in ignorance and fear, so think how easy it would be to get them all to pay, to listen to you spoutin' off about me every day! ' So next mornin' at the crack o' dawn I began my holy task, by makin' sure that that first of all I would always ask, my little congregation to pray real hard, then I'd holler, that their prayers would work much better if supported by their dollar.

Poor me. Poor me. Pour me another drink.
And so I sink…
To levels,
Where I don’t need to think.
Life sucks, and I am stupid, there is no point to this.
And so I wallow,
In self-pity,
Chased with alcoholic swallows.

Who knows what is inside us all?
The barrenness of the soul,
A flat, dark wasteland under tremendous pressure,
An ocean, with depths unexplored.
Only violated by the few who dared explore these parts unknown,
Will ever know the vast potential that is hidden in the darkness,
But it will take time.
For the vast chasms that are so hidden, no one knows what’s there,
The peaks and gullies, and creatures we cannot recognize,
But where it seems the most hopeless, there yet life exists.

It was inevitable, a freight train charging down the tracks,
The light was hungry, seeking and searching, guiding the path,
The smoke stack bellowed, the whistle cried its defiant scream,
It seemed like a beast, coming to devour and destroy all in its way.
Next to the track she stood, feet pressed up against its edge.
Waiting and waiting and waiting, not seeking and not running,
But patiently she stood, enjoying the beauty around her.

Sometimes it’s not just an uphill battle.
Sometimes it is not a battle at all.
Sometimes you just wait it out.
Sometimes it is cold outside.
And it’s dark. And it’s sleeting.
The moon is only a small sliver in the distant sky enemy,
That pours down the monotonous icy wetness
In a manner that is unceasing and faithful.

I stand between two mirrors,
Facing the future and my back to the past,
One is just as impactful as the other.
Into infinity it stretches, until you can’t see what you are looking at.
Every movement affects what you are seeing back and towards infinity.
It’s the small choices that you can’t see anymore,
But they show up until they are right with you in the front.
It is a culmination, you see.
The present stares you right in the eye.

There is so much that I do not understand.
Like what do you have to grasp on,
When the storm is inside your head?
When the whirlwind of thoughts are out of your reach,
And you cannot keep hold of yourself.
There is so much that I do not understand.
When the mannequin arms wrap around you,
And the plastic smiles blankly gaze down,
Not meeting you in the eyes.

Question
Boundaries are an imaginary line,
But they exist so strongly in the mind.
What about boundaries that exist with others?
Like brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers?
But what do we do when one crosses the line,
And invades something we have defined?

I see the markings of their tribes.
I hear the difference in their inflections.
I feel the sadness and joy
in both.
A girl without a single tribe.
A girl with every tribe.
It should count;
it probably doesn't.

I took less than a moment to see
exactly how to die twice.
Hang up that long chain.
No one else is using it, which is apropos.
Let the ice water drip down,
until it becomes those two things you will never be:
beautiful, and deadly.
A frozen chain.
You can die twice on a frozen chain.
As soon as your fingers touch the top
you must feel your doom.

Click, click goes the stapler
Crunch, crunch goes the skin
I'll cover it up so you won't see
the girl that's trapped within
Click, click goes the stapler
Crunch, crunch goes the skin
I'll tuck it away, so no more days
of what you call 'my sin'
Click, click goes the stapler
Crunch, crunch goes the skin
Just give it a moment, and I promise you
I'll never let you in
