What do you feel empty joy
He wasn’t just a body
He had a soul
He had family that loved him, a future goal
What does a human life mean to you
Nothing at all
You hunt in packs, gutless act
What do you gain from taking a life

Sitting in the dogwoods
Watching auburn flee from the woods
Hurrying, scurrying down foot dirt trails
They take their leaves
Do they think their escaping somewhere?
Draping brambles and swimming in brooks
Stealing the breeze these little natural crooks

We need to educate ourselves with our black history
So many inspirational people unspoken
In our past
We have inventors, doctors, civil right fighters
So many who triumphant are not mentioned
