I think back on this day five years
ago
It was the year Oregon got mountains
of snow
I remember it was Christmas day
It was one of my good days I
wasn't drunk and sleeping the
day away

What happened to
The kids today?
This generation is lazy and ungrateful
Nothing like back in my day

If forgetting is
intelligence reacting,
Then I must be smartly selecting.
Flipping through the pages of life's book
I go panting

Only Lies-Song Lyrics

Chorus:

You told me you loved me
But your true nature you could not hide
You promised you’d never leave me
Only what you told were lies

Verse:

You would hold me tight as
If to never let me go
Squeezed me gently like a soft
Pillow
Secretly you were putting on a show

The moments shared were the sweetest
like chocolate doves
Our minds melting as one, it was never enough
Knowing now if was never love

Chorus:

You told me you loved me
But your true nature you could not hide
You promised you’d never leave me
Only what you told were lies

Verse:

So many tears were shed
So many lies were said
you thought you damaged my
heart enough to be dead
but I have new beginnings ahead

Chorus:

You told me you loved me
But your true nature you could not hide
You promised you’d never leave me
Only what you told were lies

Blackness engulfed me many years
ago
The impact it would have on my life
I would never have known
It swarmed me like bees, imbedded
itself inside my naïve heart and grew
like fungus

The flowing rhyme amid this wintry morn,

The myriad others already written.

The pattering sheen hum's the cordial song;
Upon the tranquil land forwent of mortals breath.
The tapped boughs rustling the sparrows retreating
To a weaved recess listening to the melody with youth.
